After their Olympic gold medal win in Tokyo, Team USA star Kevin Durant made sure to remind his haters that the rest of the world is far from catching up to his skills. Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, for his part, loved the trash talk and was in full support of the Brooklyn Nets leader.

Following Team USA's win over France in the gold medal game, Durant and Draymond Green took to Instagram Live to roast Kendrick Perkins and their doubters who thought they would be falling short of a medal finish, let alone gold.

“Everybody who said we were going to take the L. … They had some power rankings out. They had us fourth behind Slovenia. Come on, man,” Durant said. “Talking about they’re catching up to us, like, are you serious? This skill is unmatched, you dig?”

After seeing Durant's quote, LeBron had nothing but praise for KD, calling him a “savage” on and off the court. The Lakers superstar also congratulated KD for his third Olympic gold–having been part of the 2012 and 2016 teams as well.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant were teammates on the Team USA roster for the 2012 London Olympics, and obviously, there's a lot of respect between the two.

While the Lakers vet didn't join the Olympics squad that went to Tokyo, he had been supportive of the team throughout. After the nation's gold medal victory, he was one of the first NBA players to congratulate Durant and Co.

Now that the Olympics is over for Team USA, though, it will definitely be interesting to see the Lakers and Nets play each other in the 2021-22 season. With both superteams loaded with talent, LeBron and KD's showdown should only be better than ever.
