Team USA got the job done in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. With Kevin Durant leading the way, the Americans defeated France in the gold medal game Friday evening to the tune of an 87-82 score. The victory also meant that Durant and Draymond Green can absolutely go after Team USA’s critics, including Kendrick Perkins.

Shortly after beating France, Durant grabbed his phone and went live on Instagram, where he and Green took turns in eviscerating everyone who doubted whether Team USA had what it takes to win the tournament.

Here's Jordan Greer of Sporting News with the transcription:

“Everybody who said we were going to take the L . . . They had some power rankings out. They had us fourth behind Slovenia. Come on, man,” Durant said, referring to the FIBA Power Rankings that indeed put Team USA behind Slovenia, France and Australia. “Talking about they're catching up to us, like, are you serious? This skill is unmatched, you dig?

Green targeted Perkins, as well.

“Kendrick Perkins, you talk a lot of s—. A lot of s—,” Green said. “Act like you're American.”

Those same critics were likely feeling high and mighty about their own prognostications when the U.S. lost its first match against France back in group play. That was the last time Team USA lost, though, as it went on to destroy each and every opponent that it crossed paths with. The Americans crushed Iran, the Czech Republic, Spain, and then Australia in the semifinals before exacting revenge on the French in the gold medal match.

Durant carried Team USA with his 29 points, while Jayson Tatum came off the bench and dropped 19 points.
