Los Angeles Lakers small forward LeBron James is a father first, then a basketball player.
So, it’s not that surprising to hear the Lakers star say he’s been having fun with his wife and three kids during this NBA hiatus despite his love for basketball.
LeBron talked about what quarantine life has been like with his family on the Road Trippin’ Podcast, as transcribed by Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register:
“When I’m away on the road, and we can indulge in trying to chase that championship quest. (Quarantine has) given me an opportunity to kind of take advantage of being with my kids every day because they don’t have school,” LeBron James said.
“Being with my wife all the time. Being with my family. We’re just here every day, doing TikTok videos. Watching shows, doing movies, playing card games, doing Uno, doing all type of stuff. It’s been fun.”
Before the season got suspended, LeBron and the Lakers had the best record in the Western Conference standings. The Lakers were 49-14 and had a 5.5 game lead over the L.A. Clippers.
James was playing at an MVP level for the Lakers prior to play being called. The Lakers superstar was averaging 25.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 10.6 assists in 60 games while shooting 49.8 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from beyond the arc and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line.
Los Angeles fans are hoping the 2019-20 season resumes in the summer. Both the Lakers and Clippers had a shot to win the championship this season.
