As Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James took in the awesomeness of Episodes 7 and 8 of “The Last Dance” on Sunday, he could not help but share his thoughts about Madison Square Garden.
MSG is the home of the New York Knicks, who in the 1990s were one of the fiercest competitors of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. For James, though, what caught his attention is how epic Madison Square Garden:
This is just another tease for Knicks fans.
There were rumors about LeBron looking at joining the Knicks in both 2010 and 2014. Prior to making the move to Hollywood in 2018 as a free agent, the Knicks were again one of the teams that LeBron was linked with. As we all know, he ultimately picked the Lakers, which was just yet another punch in the gut for Knicks fans.
Hoping against hope, some Knicks supporters could not help but interpret LeBron's above tweet as perhaps a subconscious desire from the three-time NBA champ to one day call MSG his home.
To be completely honest, however, we probably shouldn't read too much into this statement. Madison Square Garden is undeniably one of the greatest sporting venues in the entire world, and one would be a fool not to appreciate this historic setting. James has consistently expressed his admiration for The World's Most Famous Arena.
Even Jordan himself said on multiple occasions that The Garden was his favorite place to play, but he never came close to signing with the Knicks. Unfortunately for the New York faithful, the same will likely play out for LeBron, who's under contract for two more seasons with the Lakers.
There's nothing wrong with dreaming, though, and Knicks fans have been dreaming for a while about winning basketball returning to The Garden.
