To say that Rob Pelinka is under a lot of pressure right now would be an understatement. The Los Angeles Lakers have just concluded one of their worst seasons in recent years and the general expectation is that this team has to bounce back next season.

Pelinka, as the team's vice president for basketball operations and general manager, will be heavily involved in all of the Lakers' dealings this summer. Last year's moves have clearly backfired on them and this time around, Pelinka will have a bit of a clean slate to redeem himself.

According to Bill Oram of The Athletic, Pelinka will have at least a couple more seasons to work his magic in LA. At the moment, it seems that the high-ranking Lakers executive has enough time to turn things around:

Sources have told The Athletic that Pelinka has two years left on the contract extension that accompanied his promotion to vice president of basketball operations last year.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out for the Lakers this summer and during the first few months of the 2022-23 season. Pelinka may have two more years on his current deal but in truth, this does not guarantee that he won't be fired if there are no significant improvements for this team next season.
