WNBA superstar Diana Taurasi took a playful jab at Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James while giving a brief eulogy to Kobe Bryant's daughter, Gianna.

The Bryant family put together a Celebration of Life prior to the one-month anniversary of Kobe and Gigi's death, as father and daughter died in a Jan. 26 helicopter crash in Calabasas.

Taurasi was admired by Bryant and even played a role as a co-analyst on his ESPN series “Detail” as late as the 2019 NBA Finals, when she broke down Klay Thompson's game. Her jab at LeBron involved his jumper:

“Her skill was undeniable at an early age,” said Taurasi of the 13-year-old Gianna. “I mean, who has a turnaway fadeaway jumper at 11? LeBron barely got it today.”

While it seems that the barb was in no way mean-spirited, some questioned her sense of timing, as this was likely not the time to include “The Roast of LeBron James” smack dab in the middle of a heartfelt eulogy. Still, Taurasi's joke did help lighten the mood during a somewhat somber ceremony and even drew laughter and applause from many in the room.

James had praised Bryant as a player and as a person long before his death, but the Lakers star has since overclocked his support since his passing nearly a month ago, even getting a tattoo to remember Kobe's legacy.
