There's a lot of excitement surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers heading into the 2017-18 NBA season. The team shook things up during the offseason with by adding a few veterans like Brook Lopez, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Andrew Bogut to go along with promising young players Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma.

Although the addition of Lopez and Caldwell-Pope improves the team in a few different ways, Ball and Kuzma could be potential game-changers. These two rookies built a lot of chemistry during their time playing together in the NBA Summer League as they led the team to a championship in Las Vegas.

On Thursday, Ball and Kuzma put on a little show at the team's practice facility with a halfcourt shootout.

Ball came up short in this competition with his fellow rookie teammate and admitted as much when talking to the media.

“It didn't go good today,” Ball said. “Started off hot, ended pretty cold.”

After their battle in practice, Kuzma and Ball will change their focus to tomorrow night's game against the L.A. Clippers. The Lakers will face the Clippers in consecutive games with tomorrow being the team's preseason finale and Oct. 19 being the regular-season opener.

Ball's status for tomorrow remains uncertain with the rookie point guard considered questionable with an ankle sprain.
