The LSU Tigers just lost a player who previously verbally committed to the program. Jaboree Antoine, a four-star defensive back from New Iberia in Louisiana has reportedly withdrawn his commitment from LSU football, according to Eli Lederman of ESPN.

“Antoine, a two-way star at Westgate High in New Iberia, Louisiana, is the No. 6 cornerback in the 2025 class. His decommitment follows recent official visits to Miami and Florida State, and the 6-foot-1 defensive back is expected to consider both schools, along with LSU, upon reopening his recruitment. Prior to Sunday, Antoine was the third-highest rated prospect in the Tigers' incoming class.”

Antoine, part of the 2025 class, has two-way experience. Apart from playing cornerback for Westgate High, he also started as a quarterback for the school. He apparently made the decision to back away from his LSU football commitment following visits with the Miami Hurricanes and the Florida State Seminoles. The Hurricanes and the Seminoles also appear to be the top land spot candidates for Antoine, who said that those two schools are where he's “focused on moving forward,” (h/t Hayes Fawcett of On3).

Antoine is ranked 61st overall 2025 prospect on On3, 136th on 247 Sports, 47th on ESPN 300, and 95th on Rivals. He is also ranked second by all but one of those media outfits among Louisiana 2025 prospects, with 247 Sports putting him at No. 3 overall in the state.

Speaking of 247 Sports, here's Andrew Ivins' scouting report on Antoine back in 2022:

“2022: Two-way player as a sophomore for Westgate, starting at both QB and CB. Totaled 32 tackles, 11 PBU and 5 INT on defense while completing 105 of 186 pass attempts for 1,650 yards and 12 TD on offense. Also ran for 303 yards. Led Tigers to 10-4 record and the semifinals of Louisiana’s Division 1 non-select playoffs.”

This is now also the second time that LSU football has seen a top-tier 2025 recruit decommit from the program, with five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore deciding last May to take back his Tigers commitment last May. Moore is widely expected to next land with one of the Oregon Ducks, Texas Longhorns, and Ohio State Buckeyes .

Before his initial commitment to LSU football, Antoine received offers from the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Colorado Buffaloes, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Ole Miss Rebels, and the Texas A&M Aggies among others.

Despite the latest development on Antoine, the Tigers still have a strong 2025 class to date. Their 2025 class is currently ranked eighth by 247 Sports, with LSU football having a total of 12 commits, including two five-star talents and nine four-stars.

In the 2023 college football season — Brian Kelly's second year in Baton Rouge — the Tigers went 10-3 and ranked as high as No. 1 on the Associated Press poll.
