The Minnesota Lynx take on the New York Liberty. Our WNBA odds series has our Lynx Liberty prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Lynx Liberty.

This game is the Commissioner's Cup final. You will notice it is the only game being played on the Tuesday schedule while the rest of the league gets the night off. There are no games on Wednesday, and there were no games on Monday, either. The league is getting a short break with roughly 35 percent of the season having been completed.

This is a matchup between two of the three teams which have gotten off to very fast starts in the WNBA this year. Alongside the Connecticut Sun, the Lynx and Liberty have lost just three games. The next-best WNBA teams (occupying fourth place) have lost six games. Purely in terms of wins and losses, the Lynx and Liberty have been part of the top tier of the league, though the Las Vegas Aces are getting healthier and look increasingly like their 2023 selves. Minnesota and New York both want to be able to host a possible WNBA semifinal playoff series later this summer. Standings aside, it will be fascinating to see how these two teams stack up against each other in their second head-to-head meeting of the season. In the first meeting, which was several weeks ago, Minnesota pounced on New York at home. The Liberty were still sluggish in the early part of their season and had not started to play at the elite level we have seen in recent weeks. New York is a different and much better team right now; can Minnesota sting the Liberty one more time?

Why The Lynx Can Cover The Spread/Win

First of all, the Lynx are playing some great defense right now. They held the Atlanta Dream to 55 points last week. Then they smothered the Phoenix Mercury in a similarly stifling defensive effort this past Saturday, prevailing 73-60. Phoenix scored 81 points against the Lynx earlier in June. The Lynx allowed multiple late-game 3-pointers in the loss, letting a six-point lead with 1:15 remaining slip away. The Lynx were intent on not allowing Phoenix to burn them a second time. It showed. Minnesota clamped down on the Mercury and hounded Phoenix into a miserable shooting performance. If Minnesota plays that level of defense in this game, it should be able to stay close enough to cover the spread. The spread is more than just two 2-point baskets. Minnesota can lose by five and still cover. That's a small but real cushion for anyone who wants to bet on the Lynx to cover.

Why The Liberty Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Liberty are rolling. They are a lot better than the Atlanta Dream — no one doubted that — but playing a dominant game on Sunday, less than 24 hours after winning a Saturday afternoon game showed how locked in the Liberty are at both ends of the floor. This team is flowing and has great continuity at both ends of the floor. Minnesota is good, but New York is better, and the Liberty will want to avenge that loss in Minnesota several weeks ago.

Final Lynx-Liberty Prediction & Pick

The Liberty will be motivated by their loss in Minnesota. That's the main reason to take New York here.
