The Houston Texans have an outstanding team, and they have one of the best all-around teams in the league. The offense is lead by quarterback Deshaun Watson and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, but the team has lacked a workhorse running back since the days of Arian Foster. The Texans have gotten decent production out of Lamar Miller over the last three seasons, but he has been very boom or bust much like his time with Miami. In addition, D'Onta Foreman has not been able to stay healthy since being drafted last season.

The Texans could look to head in a different direction regarding the running back position, and New Orleans Saints' Mark Ingram will be a free agent after the 2018 season. Ingram has been fantastic since entering the league in 2011 and has earned a spot on two Pro-Bowl rosters. Ingram also won the Heisman trophy for his incredible 2009 season at the University of Alabama.

Now that the Saints have seen fellow running back Alvin Kamara light up the league the last two seasons, they may not be looking to keep Ingram around. Kamara and Ingram are a perfect running back tandem and clearly, don't mind a timeshare at the position. However, Ingram may not be able to forego an opportunity that would give him more opportunities to continue to build upon his great career so far.

The Texans have relied heavily on Watson's fantastic passing skills as well as his ability to scramble out of the pocket. A consistent workhorse running back could take pressure off Watson and not force him to scramble so often. Watson's tendency to take off and run resulted in him being the most sacked quarterback in the league in 2018. Ingram could be a fantastic complement to a potentially high-powered offense.

Ingram may not get quite the amount of money he is likely hoping for considering he just turned 29 years old, and most teams prefer a younger running back. However, players like Frank Gore and Adrian Peterson have proven that running backs can play well into their thirties. Ingram has a lot of gas left in the tank, and it's clear he has the skill set to make a positive impact on any offense.
