Streetball legend and former NBA player God Shammgod is going to be sharing his ballhandling knowledge exclusively for the Dallas Mavericks for the foreseeable future. According to DallasBasketball.com via Scout.com, Shammgod has signed a four-year extension with the Mavericks to be the team’s player-development coach.

Shammgod is set to enter his second season in the same capacity with Dallas, but it seems that the Mavericks have seen enough positives from the ex-Providence Friars guard to reward him with an extension. Since being with the Mavericks, Shammgod has helped Dallas forward Harrison Barnes improve his ballhandling. He’ll also play a bigger role this season, as he takes Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr. under his wing.

After two years with the Friars, Shammgod played 20 games for the Washington Wizards during the 1997-98 season, averaging just 3.1 points and 1.8 assists per game. He went on to play basketball overseas, which includes stops in China and Saudi Arabia, for the next two decades. Before hooking up with the Mavericks as player development coach last year, Shammgod served in the same position for Providence from 2012 to 2015.
