Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has been ruled out for Thursday's game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

Doncic is battling a left quad injury and was listed on the injury report prior to Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. After originality being listed as questionable, Doncic was ultimately upgraded to available for the affair and proceeded to drop 39 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in a narrow 113-110 defeat.

Entering Thursday, Doncic's status was very much up in the air. However, with Doncic still dealing with the quad ailment and the Mavs preparing to face the Timberwolves in the second of a back-to-back, it appears that Luka is getting a much-needed day off.

The Mavs will need all hands on deck with Luka Doncic on the sideline. Kyrie Irving is also dealing with an injury and doesn't have a timetable for a return at the moment. Jason Kidd said Irving's rehab is “going well” but it remains unclear as to when Irving will return.

Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns is listed as questionable for Thursday's game as of this story's writing, per the NBA injury report. The Wolves star is dealing with left knee soreness, so Minnesota will closely monitor his status prior to tip-off.

The Timberwolves enter play sporting a phenomenal 22-7 record. Meanwhile, Luka Doncic and the Mavs fell to 18-13 following their loss to Cleveland.

Overall, the Mavericks have performed well despite being dealt no shortage of injury concerns throughout the season. Dallas still projects to be a legitimate contender in the Western Conference but getting healthy will be of the utmost importance.

Thursday's contest will be the first of a three-game road trip for the Mavs. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM EST as Dallas looks to rebound and earn a victory in Minnesota.
