The New York Mets have been on a generational slump for the season. A lot of the worry comes from the team's inability to hit runs consistently and play winning baseball. Pete Alonso is a crucial piece for the team but fans had to gasp for air after he got hit during their game against the Boston Red Sox.

Pete Alonso got hit on his left knee during a Red Sox pitch in the eighth inning. The Mets player confirmed that he was okay. New York fans can also breathe a sigh of relief as he is set to play in their next games, per Tim Healey of Newsday Sports.

Alonso has been going down with the Mets. The team is continuing to struggle in the middle of the season and it is not getting better. Boston obliterated them in a six-to-one scoreline in their latest matchup. This makes them slip down to a 46-53 record. It also sets them 18.5 games back from the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves. The season is still young but it is going to take a lot of effort to hit runs and not get injured for them to pull a comeback.

Pete Alonso is having one of his worst outings throughout his career. If this continues, he will have the most terrible statistical season of his MLB career. The least the Mets player can do is stay healthy and no longer risk moments like that.

Will New York pull through despite all of these individual and collective team slumps?
