LSU quarterback Joe Burrow has played himself into the top-five of many mock drafts. Coming into the season, Burrow was a day-three prospect who could have maybe climbed into consideration on day two of the NFL Draft. Now, he is the leader of 9-0 LSU and is being viewed as the best quarterback in this class.
Burrow has thrown for 3,198 yards with 33 touchdowns and just four interceptions. If he wasn't the Heisman leader already, he is now after his performance on the road against Alabama. Burrow shredded the Crimson Tide for 393 yards and three touchdowns in a 46-41 win.
Burrow is one of three quarterbacks who will be picked high in the draft. Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa will also be highly regarded in the upcoming NFL draft. Here are three teams who could key in on Burrow come draft night.
3. Washington Redskins
The Redskins selected Dwayne Haskins with the 15th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. They have finally named him the starter for the remainder of the season but that does not mean that he is the future. Haskins has looked mediocre during his time on the field but the Redskins will need to see more before they select another quarterback high in the draft.
With that being said, it is not impossible. There will be a new coach in the Nation's Capital next season and he may want to select his own quarterback. Let's not forget that Redskins owner Daniel Synder wanted to draft Haskins, not then head coach Jay Gruden. For Washington, it is time for the owner to hire knowledgeable people to run the team so he can stay out of business on the field. Maybe this begins with the selection of Burrow.
2. Miami Dolphins
Article Continues BelowJust two weeks ago it seemed like a lock that the Dolphins were going to go 0-16 and land the first pick in the draft. Now, Miami has won two in a row and it has dropped them a few spots in mock drafts. They will still be picking in the top-five and that means they can land one of these quarterbacks.
Looking at the draft situation right now, there are two teams near the top that will not be taking quarterbacks, that is the New York Jets and New York Giants. The Redskins are up in the air. The Dolphins are not. Miami will be taking a quarterback and there is known interest in Tagovailoa. If the Dolphins end up with the first pick, they will probably take Tagovailoa. If they do not and he is not there when they are on the clock, Miami cannot pass on Burrow.
1. Cincinnati Bengals
The Andy Dalton era is finally over in Cincinnati. The Bengals have been a boring team with a bad quarterback for a long time. they parted ways with Marvin Lewis who could never win a playoff game and now it is time to get rid of the quarterback who could never win either.
Burrow is the perfect fit here. He will bring immediate excitement and star power to a franchise that is in desperate need of both. The Bengals might be the team that does not win a game and lands the first overall pick. If this is the case, it will be hard for them to pass on Burrow.
