Why the Braves can win World Series Game 6
Max Fried will look to get back on track for the Braves in Game 6 after a challenging start in Houston in Game 2. Atlanta's lineup will also look to get going, as outside of Adam Duvall's first inning grand slam, there was very little in the way of hitting for the Braves in Game 5. Fried was the Braves' ace this season, but has allowed 11 runs in 9.2 innings over his last two starts. The left hander allowed six runs in five innings in Game 2 of the World Series.
If the Braves are going to win on Tuesday, they will need Fried to return to his usual form. There's reason to believe he can do so as an established starter with a good postseason track record, so Atlanta is a solid play to take home the World Series title in Game 6 with Fried on the mound despite his recent struggles. The bigger concern may be certain parts of Atlanta's lineup. No. 3 hole hitter Ozzie Albies has not been able to get going at the plate during the postseason, posting an OPS of just .576 across 60 at bats during the playoffs. The Braves may consider a lineup switch heading into a crucial Game 6.
Why the Astros can win World Series Game 6
The Astros exploded offensively off an inexperienced starter in Game 5. They will be facing the more experienced Fried in Game 5, but obviously they do have the confidence of having recent success off of him. The lineup impacted the game from top to bottom for the Astros in Game 5, and that type of effort will make things tough on Fried Tuesday night. It will be a battle 1-9 vs. Houston, so if Fried is off his game again it might be another short outing.
Luis Garcia, who held the Braves to one run in three-plus innings in Game 3, draws the start for the Astros. He has also had a up-and-down postseason, allowing 10 runs in first two starts before settling down in the ALCS and in Game 3 vs. Atlanta. If he can keep the Braves lineup in check again for a few innings on Tuesday, that might be all the Houston bats need to take care of the rest.
