The Chicago White Sox are hoping to make a big run in the MLB postseason this year, but the team just sustained a huge blow with Opening Day right around the corner. Lance Lynn, who was expected to toe the rubber during the season opener against the Detroit Tigers, is dealing with a slight tear in a tendon in his knee, which will keep him sidelined for roughly a month, per James Fegan.

General Manager Rick Hahn revealed Lynn would be sidelined for a while with the injury, and the expectation is that the 34-year-old will be throwing off a mound again in about four weeks. It will likely be longer than a month until he's back on a mound in the big leagues, however, as Lynn will also require time to build back his endurance ahead of his return to MLB soil.

With Lynn sidelined for the start of the year, fans can expect to see Lucas Giolito on the mound for Opening Day against the Tigers on April 8. The rest of the rotation figures to include Dallas Keuchel, and Michael Kopech, though it remains to be seen who will take Lynn's place on the staff while he's sidelined.
Last year for the White Sox, Lynn recorded a stellar 2.69 ERA with 176 strikeouts across 157 innings on the mound. He boasted an 11-6 record across 28 starts, making the second All-Star Game of his career, and his first since 2012.
