The New York Mets are hellbent on bringing a World Series to Queens this year, and that means fielding the best team possible at all times. In order to ensure the Mets stay at the top of their game throughout the 162-game season, owner Steve Cohen and GM Billy Eppler are always looking for ways to improve the team. They did just that on Sunday, acquiring veteran infielder JT Riddle from the Cincinnati Reds in a trade for cash considerations, according to Anthony DiComo.

Riddle will join the Mets' minor-league system, having been sent to Triple-A Syracuse where he'll look to prove he's worthy of a call-up to the big leagues.
Riddle didn't play much of a role for the Reds in 2022, featuring in just 4 games this season. In fact, Riddle hasn't played in more than 51 games since the 2019 season. His career-high in games played came back in 2018 with the Miami Marlins, during which he featured in 109 games.
Throughout his career, Riddle has spent time with the Marlins, Twins, and Reds. He'll hope to eventually crack the Mets' big league roster, though that's far from a guarantee for the 30-year-old.
Riddle has 6 MLB seasons under his belt. Across 252 games, Riddle has slashed .223/.261/.354 with 19 home runs and 80 RBI. He has experience playing in both the infield and outfield, something which could prove valuable to the Mets if a starter gets injured.
Considering the number of injuries already plaguing the Mets, it's not a surprise they looked to fortify their minor leagues with some veteran depth.
