A woman and her 2-year-old son died Saturday after falling from the third level of Petco Park before the San Diego Padres' game against the Atlanta Braves, according to ESPN. San Diego police are investigating the tragic deaths.
The woman and child were on the third-level concourse in the concession area before the fall, which was about six stories down to Tony Gwynn drive, according to Lt. Andra Brown. They were pronounced dead a little after 4 p.m.
The father of the child was at the ballpark as well when the deaths occurred, but it's unclear where he was. It's not yet known the reason for the fall, though police called the deaths “suspicious.”

“We are aware of the incident on Tony Gwynn Dr. and first responders are on scene,” Padres vice president of communications Craig Hughner said in a statement. “Due to the ongoing investigation, we are not able to comment further at this time. All media inquiries should be directed to SDPD.”
Police will surely look to ask people on the concourse for more information about what happened, and perhaps there were actual eyewitnesses to help determine if this was just an accident or foul play.
