A few months ago, Monty Williams became a source of inspiration for everyone.

The tragedy that struck his family, when his wife got into an accident and passed away, was a life-altering experience for every individual, no matter who they are. But with his faith, the former Oklahoma City Thunder assistant coach faced the entire situation with a positivity that is very rare to witness coming from people these days.

Recently, ESPN’s Hannah Storm sat down with Williams and as the two talked about how life has been for him and his family since the tragedy. Being the man that he is, backing down is not an option.

It's the phone call that you don't want anybody to ever get. Certainly, it could have broken me to the point of quitting, but, God and his graciousness has given me the strength and good people to help us go forward.

The reality is we live in a world that's filled with stuff and quitting is not an option. It's just life.

Currently, Williams is part of coach Mike Krzyzewski’s Team USA staff, and the former is very appreciative of the opportunity.

It was the one thing – like I've only had peace about a few things – I knew I had to take care of my kids and stop coaching, but also knew that I wanted to be part of USA basketball.

It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I can't wait to get back and start coaching and I wouldn't even think that if I didn't know what my wife wanted me to do.

He deserves it. Aside from his basketball acumen, the players, and everyone following the team, should beam with hope whenever they see Monty Williams bouncing back from the catastrophe that life threw at him.
