Klay Thompson was playing like everyone knew he could in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Having established himself as one of basketball's preeminent big-game players during the Golden State Warriors' half-decade of dominance, no one was going to be surprised if he put together another epic outing with his team's back against the proverbial wall of elimination. Thompson lived up to expectations in the early going of Game 6, keeping his team within striking distance with difficult jumper after difficult jumper as the Toronto Raptors came out hot. He was especially dominant in the third quarter, when the Warriors began extending their lead in a manner that made it seem like Game 7 was coming.

But following an absolutely ridiculous pull-up 30-footer in transition amid the outstretched arms of three Toronto defenders, Thompson was bit by the injury bug again – this time to an extent that left him unable to return. After ESPN's Doris Burke reported that he was out for the remainder of Game 6, Thompson was shown on the broadcast leaving Oracle Arena on crutches.

Thompson landed awkwardly on his left knee after a dunk attempt in transition on which he was fouled by Danny Green. Though he initially began making his way back to the locker room, Thompson was quickly called back to the floor to shoot free throws, which would allow him to return to the action later if he was deemed healthy enough to play by Warriors doctors. The 29 year old is a free agent this summer, and widely expected to return to the Warriors.

The Raptors held on to beat the Warriors 114-110 in another highly-dramatic affair, winning their first title in franchise history.
