Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked a question about Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Rather than answering the question straight up, Kerr decided to dodge it to avoid controversy.

Kerr joined The Bill Simmons Podcast on Wednesday where they talked about everything and anything about basketball. But when Simmons dropped a question about Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kerr decided to put on the breaks. Peep their convo below as transcribed by Drew Shiller of NBC Sports:

Simmons: “I think you can answer this. I don't think this is a tampering violation. Giannis is basically a 7-foot point guard … this is just who he is? Is Giannis a 1-of-1, or do you think there's more coming? Or this the only one we're gonna have?”

Kerr: “(laughter) ‘Media Steve' is gone, Bill.”

Simmons: “You can't even answer?!”

Kerr: ” ‘Coach Steve' doesn't want to get fined. Especially guys who are gonna be free agents and all that stuff.”

For some context, Antetokounmpo has been involved in a spate of rumors all season long. According to the grapevine, if the Bucks fail to win the title this season, then they might have to bid goodbye to their MVP. While Giannis himself has dismissed these rumors, a lot can still happen in the NBA.

Besides, the Warriors have proven their capacity to lure in big-name free agents. No one thought that Kevin Durant will ever be donning a Warriors jersey. But they were able to get the former MVP and won two titles in three years with him in the fold. So Antetokounmpo isn't so much of a pipe dream.
