The Memphis Grizzlies have turned themselves into contenders this season. They are third in the West with a 32-16 record and do not seem to be slowing down at all. As for the Mavericks, they are playing very well as of late. They are 26-20 which is good for 5th in the West. This has the makings of a very intense matchup!

Why The Grizzlies Could Cover The Spread
The Grizzlies will be in a great position to cover this spread on the road. They are currently 15-7 away from FedEx Forum which is the second-best away record in the West. That stat right there is very important because winning on the road is crucial to winning in the playoffs. The fact that the Grizzlies are winning games on the road in this competitive conference is a great sign. They are being given four points on the road in this one and they seem to be the better team at the moment. If they can shut down Luka Doncic, then there should be no reason why they can't cover its spread.
This won't be an easy game. Dallas is 20-11 against the West this year and thrashed the Grizzlies the last time they faced. This is their fourth meeting of the season already and the Mavs won 112-85 last time out. Doncic scored 27 points in the win, so that right there tells you that if they can contain him, they should be in a good position. Ja Morant and Desmond Bane are off to a fantastic start to the season, but they could be without defensive anchor Steven Adams in this game. If they don’t suit him up, then this will be a tough game to defend and cover.

Why The Mavericks Could Cover The Spread
The Mavs need to stick to the same gameplan they had the last time they met the Grizzlies. They did everything right and if they keep that seem energy, they should cover this spread at home. Dallas is favored at home which is the right call. They are playing very well as of late and beat up on the West this season. The Mavs are 14-9 at home this year and 9-2 in the division. Even though Memphis is one of the better teams in the NBA right now, the Mavs know how to beat them.
If they want to cover this spread, they must contain Ja Morant and try and win in the paint. Without Adams on the other side, the Mavs will have a better chance of controlling the pain and trying to score a majority of their points from there. Jaren Jackson Jr. is a lengthy forward but he won't be able to lock up the paint on his own. They need to also contain Dillon Brooks who is averaging 18.4 points per game.
Final Grizzlies-Mavericks Prediction & Pick
Memphis is one of the better teams in the NBA at covering the spread. They are 31-17 while the Mavs are 23-22-1. That will make this even tougher to pick, but I am going to go with the Mavs to cover this spread at home. The last time they met is a clear indication of what this game should look like. Take the Mavs and hope they once again dominate Morant and the Grizzlies.
