Trae Young and De'Aaron Fox, two of the best, young point guards in the NBA, are gearing up Wednesday night as the Sacramento Kings host the red-hot Atlanta Hawks. With that said, it’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Hawks-Kings prediction and pick.

The Hawks have won eight of their last 10 games and are currently sitting in the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 22-21. While the Kings are coming off a big win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, they now have a record of 18-25 and are currently sitting in the 13th seed in the Western Conference.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Hawks-Kings odds.

NBA Odds: Hawks-Kings Odds

Atlanta Hawks -3 (-113)

Sacramento Kings +3 (-107)

Over 230.5 Points (-110)

Under 230.5 Points(-110)

Why The Hawks Could Cover The Spread

After the replacement of head coach Lloyd Pierce with Nate McMillan, the Hawks have gone a blazing hot 8-1.

The Hawks are finally starting to get healthy again as they have already welcomed back Bogdan Bogdanovic, Rajon Rondo, and Danilo Gallinari, who missed a majority of the first half of the season. The team has also recently welcomed back De'Andre Hunter, who saw 20 minutes of action off the bench against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.

The Hawks are a well-balanced team with seven players averaging double-digits. The Hawks are led by Young, who has been averaging 25.7 points, 9.4 assists, and 4.1 rebounds this season so far.

Seeing that the Kings also have the worst defensive rating of all teams in the NBA, the Hawks should have their way on the offensive end.

The concern for the Hawks is finding a way to contain Fox and to prevent him from having a big game. If the Hawks can do this, they should easily cover the spread and pull out the win against the Kings.

Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

The Kings are beginning a three-game homestand against the Hawks as they look to battle for a spot in the playoffs.

The Kings have the 11th best offensive rating in the NBA, behind the fantastic offensive performance from Fox on a night-to-night basis.

Fox so far this season has been averaging 23.8 points, 7.4 assists, and 3.4 rebounds while shooting a very efficient 47 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from behind the 3-point line.

The other starters on the team have also all been contributing double-digit points per game with all shooting nearly 40 percent and above from the field.

Aside from their surprising and fantastic rookie Tyrese Haliburton, who has been averaging 12.8 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.4 rebounds, the Kings have struggled to find other reliable players off the bench to contribute on the offensive end in an effort to take some of the load off the starters.

The main reason the Kings have not been winning games, however, is because they play zero defense. They currently are ranked with the worse defensive rating in the NBA and that does not bode well, as they face a red-hot Hawks team led by Young.

If the Kings want a shot at covering the spread against the Hawks, they will need to play with a bit more intensity on the defensive end of the floor. Fox in particular will have the tough task of having to slow down and contain the Hawks' main ball-handler and facilitator in Trae Young.

Final Hawks-Kings Prediction & Pick

The Hawks are hot and have won eight of their past 10 games. The offense should run smoothly as the Kings are the worse defensive team in the NBA. On the defensive end of the floor, the Hawks do need to worry about Fox and collectively working as a team to slow down and contain him. The Hawks should have no problems and find an easy way to beat the Kings.
