Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball is on the board.
After going scoreless in the Hornets' first preseason game on Saturday, the rookie point guard scored his first (unofficial) points of his NBA career on Monday night in their second tune-up contest against the Toronto Raptors.
With just over four minutes left in the first quarter, Ballāsetting up in the right cornerāreceived a kick-out pass from Miles Bridges. Ball calmly hit Raptors guard Matt Thomas with a pump-fake on an aggressive close-out attempt, before taking a dribble left and re-positioning himself for an open look.
Ball's Hornets teammates began to rise from the bench before the rookie splashed home his first points of the game.
The 3-pointer gave Charlotte a 19-11 lead.
Even though the 6-foot-8 point guard failed to score a basket in his first taste of NBA action, he gave a peek of his electric passing and useful rebounding ability in the Hornets' first preseason matchup with Toronto, a 111-100 Raptors win.
