The cavalry is on the way for the Chicago Bulls. Less than a week after Lauri Markkanen returned from a sprained elbow, new head coach Jim Boylen acknowledged the “possibility” of Kris Dunn and Bobby Portis returning from their respective knee injuries Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder:
There's a possibility that Dunn and/or Portis could play tomorrow, says Jim Boylen pic.twitter.com/rFe02z7Xe2

Both Dunn and Portis have practiced in full this week. If they don't suit up Friday against the Thunder, perhaps they give it a go the next night versus the Boston Celtics.
Dunn has only appeared in one game this season. He missed the first two games of the year due to the birth of his child, and then he sprained his MCL in a loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 22.
Article Continues BelowLast season, Dunn took a big step forward after a poor rookie campaign, averaging 13.4 points, 6.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 29.3 minutes per game. The 24-year-old did struggle with injuries, though, as he missed 30 games due to multiple health problems.
Portis suffered his MCL injury the game after Dunn did, so he has only played four games this season. The 23-year-old struggled with his shooting to start this season (41.5 percent), but he's coming off a breakout third season in which he averaged 13.2 points on 47.1 percent shooting in 22.6 minutes per contest.
Boylen will be happy to get Dunn and Portis back, whenever that may be. The Bulls sit at 5-20 on the season and have lost seven straight games. Boylen lost his debut against the Indiana Pacers after Fred Hoiberg got fired on Monday.
