The Chicago Bulls are reportedly expected to express early interest in free agent power forward Julius Randle once free agency starts on June 30, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Randle declined his $9 million player option for next season with the New Orleans Pelicans. The lefty becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. Charania reports that the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets will pursue Randle as well.
Article Continues BelowThe Bulls are expected to express early interest in free-agent forward Julius Randle, league sources said. Randle is expected to receive interest from several teams, including the Knicks and Nets, according to sources.
This past season, Randle averaged 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the Pelicans while shooting 52.4 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from beyond the arc and 73.1 percent from the free-throw line. He will surely get a pay raise from the $8.64 million he made in 2018-19.
The Bulls have a pretty crowded front court, so adding Randle would be an interesting move to say the least. Chicago has Wendell Carter Jr., Lauri Markkanen, rookie Daniel Gafford and Cristiano Felicio.
It would be ideal if the Bulls could find a way to part ways with Felicio. He barely plays and is set to make $8.12 million in 2019-20.
