The 2003 NBA draft is widely considered one of the best in league history. Some of the biggest names currently playing were part of the same class, and nine of them turned out to be All-Stars in their careers. LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, David West and Kyle Korver are just a few of them that were all waiting for their names to be selected 14 years ago.

While there are only a few classes that could rival the level of talent the 2003 group had, Wade made it known recently that he thinks this year’s rookies has the potential to be as successful as them. He even named the first year players he is a fan of, and added Markelle Fultz in a succeeding tweet.

After the list of hopefuls were finalized earlier this year, many took notice of the number of highly touted prospects included in it. They thought of it as one of the deepest pools in recent years, but the Chicago Bulls guard took it another notch by comparing this year’s crop to his class.  The 2017 rookies may have a long way to go before proving that they are worthy of being considered in the same level as the Wade’s group, but they already off to a great start and impressed a lot of scouts and fans during the Summer League.

Should they be able to play the same way during the regular season, it may lead to more comparisons in the future and help bring out the best in them. It may seem like a tall order as Wade and company have all proven themselves as all time greats, but it’s not entirely impossible, especially with veterans who will guide them in their early days in the league.
