Before the L.A. Clippers ended their nine-game losing streak last week, trade rumors involving DeAndre Jordan surfaced, one of which was a potential deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as the need for a change within the team seemed apparent at that point. Already having a plethora of injuries, the Clippers saw Blake Griffin go down on Monday night, in what turned out to be an MCL injury that will cost him the next two months. Griffin is now the Clippers' fourth player injured, joining Milos Teodosic, Danilo Gallinari, and Patrick Beverley.
DeAndre Jordan was asked to give his thoughts about potentially getting traded and receiving interest from teams around the league. He admitted that he's humbled by it, but added that he is happy with his spot in the Clippers. He then said, via Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, that he does not plan on giving up on his teammates.
“It's humbling. It shows that other people want you and that you have value,” Jordan said. “It's my 10th season. I'm happy here.”
“It's definitely tough, but I can't give up on my teammates. I've got to stay positive, and hopefully it will turn around.”
With a number of his teammates slated to miss a significant amount of time, the 6-foot-11 center will be relied upon even more to carry the Clippers, and keep their heads above water. However, their front office could ultimately decide to part ways with him, and cut down on losses instead.
DeAndre Jordan is showing a lot of loyalty and maturity with his comments. His say might not have as much influence on what the Clippers decide on, but it definitely gives the team an idea of how much he wants to continue his career in Tinseltown.
