After Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum sent shockwaves through the Twitterverse by calling out Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, he quickly walked back his words and extinguished the beef before it even had the chance to properly develop.
Seemingly without provocation, McCollum had tweeted out his thoughts on Durant's departure from the Oklahoma City Thunder to form a super team in the Bay area.
Durant, who is never one to shy away from internet slights whether they are from a fellow player or from an internet troll, wasted no time in defending himself.

Before things could get more heated, McCollum quickly ended any chances of a feud taking shape.
McCollum, instead of firing back at Durant and continuing the “snake/cupcake” accusations, simply defended his name accompanied with photos of him smiling and working out.
Article Continues BelowThere is no feud y’all gotta chill. It was simply an analogy. I’m done speaking on KD and the warriors bc it’s childish of me to do so and soft lol (will be taken out of context). I’ve always said what I feel but we all know I’ve never been a 🐍. Both of these players certainly have better things to do in their offseason spare time then perpetuate petty arguments that will end up getting nowhere.
McCollum has a lot of work to do if he wants to help a Blazers squad that was embarrassingly swept out of the playoffs last year by the lower seeded New Orleans Pelicans without their starting All-Star center in DeMarcus Cousins.
Durant will be resting up and looking forward to a new season with the Warriors who are again favored to win the chip after making another massive acquisition in the aforementioned Cousins.
It's a good thing the petty accusations were shut down quickly, and we can soon look forward to seeing both players facing off on the court instead of the internet.
