The Golden State Warriors once again escaped with an unimpressive 106-100 win over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon.
After the game, Draymond Green was quick to notice a trend during the three-game regular season stretch thus far. Defenses are getting more and more physical and daring the referees to make consistent calls at the offensive and defensive ends.
“Definitely. Definitely.” He told CSN Bay Area's Monte Poole post-game. “Teams are trying to punk us. It’s fine. We’re not going to get punked.”
Kevin Durant echoed his teammate's observation and noticed how the team is off its offensive rhythm due to opponents being increasingly physical.

“They’re going to come at us physically,” said Durant. “We took it tonight. That team was pressuring us to try to get us out of stuff. We kept moving. We had a nice pace.”
“You can talk all you want. You’ve still got to play.”
Durant responded loudly with his highest offensive output of the season, making the Suns pay from the charity stripe as he nailed 15-of-16 free-throws on his way to 37 points on an efficient 16 shots from the floor.
The problem lies in the coaching staff as much as the players, as head coach Steve Kerr has become enamored with playing a small lineup to get results, but has been slowly backfiring as teams have now two seasons worth of experience matching up to the Warriors' schemes.
Based on how they have performed up to this point, the Warriors do not appear as deadly when the cards are out there for everyone to see.
