After his much-talked about move to the Golden State Warriors back in July, it has already been a question in a lot of people's minds if Kevin Durant still has the same relationship as what he had in the past with Russell Westbrook.
Many believe it to be non-existent anymore especially when Westbrook was claiming that his former partner-in-crime never told him about leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In a recent Q&A with Anthony Slater of The Mercury News, Durant admitted that this is a tough time for their relationship and made it clear that he never did anything behind his back.

“I love Russ. I don’t care what nobody say. I don’t care what he say or what the fans say. Like, this is a tough time right now in our relationship. But I love Russ. I love his family. They all know that. I never did anything morally wrong. I never back-stabbed him in real life, never did anything behind his back, never told anyone anything about his character. Never did any of that. I just left teams. I just switched teams.”
The two were teammates for eight years and turned around a relocated franchise to a contender in the tough Western Conference. They were considered one of the best duos in the NBA and brought out the best from each other. But now, they have gone separate paths as Durant is now with his new team and Westbrook signed an extension to remain with OKC.
On Thursday, the two will face each other for the first time in their professional careers wearing different jerseys. It is already one of the most anticipated matchups of the season and it will be interesting to see how both of them will treat the game. Even if they said it's just a regular one, it is expected that Durant and Westbrook will play with a lot of intensity as emotions will run high in their first encounter this season.
