Although there was plentiful insanity around Kevin Durant‘s name regarding free agency, some teams decided to take a more laid-back approach in getting Durant to sign in the long term. The New York Knicks thought maybe after this year, KD would have hedged his bets with the NYC team if he had another unsuccessful stint with the Thunder.

“We knew that KD wanted to go to a team that he felt like had a chance to win the championship this upcoming season and we didn’t fit that bill,” commented GM Steve Mills. “But we know that if he had made a decision to (re-sign with OKC) that we would have a meeting with him because then we would have been one of those teams he would think about for the following year – that’s if he stayed in OKC. When he made the decision to go to Golden State he wouldn’t (leave next summer). My assumption is that he will stay there.”

Kevin Durant's move to the GSW shocked the league to say the least. Stacking up what already seems like a stacked team, this new Splash Family will have high expectation going into next season. Anything less than an NBA title will be an utter disappointment to this super squad.

Anything can happen in the playoffs, so let's all just wait and see what happens.
