The crown of best three-point shooter ever belongs to Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, but there is still one player ahead of him on the all-time three-pointers made list. That player is the legendary Hall of Famer Ray Allen. He's the current all-time leader with 2973 made three-pointers, and Curry is right behind him with 2,832.

In turn, this means in the upcoming season Curry has a legit chance of passing him.

Stephen Curry is 141 made three-point field goals away from Allen's record. With health and an entire season ahead, Curry should pass that mark without a problem. Curry has never finished a season making fewer than 151 shots from beyond the arc. Only in the seasons he was hurt most of the year was the only time he didn't reach that number. It's only been two seasons since a healthy Curry didn't get 200 makes.

Nowadays, basketball is being played differently compared to when Ray Allen lit up the scoreboards around the league. A shot from deep would be considered a bad shot or not a high percentage attempt. Now just about every team in the NBA believes in letting it fly. Back in Allen's day, he felt like shooting five from deep in one game meant you were settling. Now, if Curry only shoots five, everyone would be screaming for him to take more, which is part of the reason Curry is set to shatter Allen's record.

The Bay Area superstar has a career average of making 3.7 threes per game. At that pace, he would only need around 40 more games to secure the top spot. Knocking down treys at that rate might seem like a difficult task, but for Stephen Curry, he's outdone his career average five times in his career. Coming off his career-high 5.3 makes per game, he could secure the record faster than his average says he will. The celebration can begin a lot sooner.

The two-time MVP isn't a player who likes to talk about his accomplishments or goals. He constantly reminds people he tries to live in the moment as he reaches these types of milestones. Becoming the all-time leader in three-pointers made is a goal he will reach long as he's able to lace up his sneakers.
