Immediately after DeMarcus Cousins announced his intentions to sign a one year deal with the Golden State Warriors, word got out that the All-Star center may not be ready until December or January as he continues to rehab from his Achilles tear.
To some, this explains why the team was able to nab one of the top free agents of the summer that easily — if he's not ready to play right away, his injury might be as worse as they say it is. Then again, it could also be the team (or Cousins himself) having the luxury of not rushing things being the defending champs and all.
But the 6-foot-11 center, hard at work since being sidelined and archiving the entire process in his social media accounts, downplayed that projection and claimed that he aims to be ready by training camp.
However, after finally signing his contract, the former Kentucky Wildcat spoke to ESPN's Chris Haynes, slamming the breaks on a definite return date and is a lot more cautious on when he intends to be back playing.

“I was aiming for training camp, but I've communicated with the staff and the coaches, and it's kind of up in the air. It will be when I'm ready, 100 percent ready, and we'll take it from there.”
In terms of recovery, Cousins is glad to report that he's progressing nicely.
“It's coming along great. Basically, the healing part is over, and now it's just about building strength. I'm improving each and every day. I feel stronger each and every day, and it's just a matter of time before I'm back on the floor.”
