The Golden State Warriors have won their fourth-straight Western Conference championship, beating the Houston Rockets 101-92 in Game 7 Monday night.
During the trophy presentation ceremony at Houston’s Toyota Center after the game, “Inside the NBA” co-host Ernie Johnson interviewed Draymond Green and asked him to compare this Rockets team to Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook’s Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016.
Ernie Johnson: “Was this the toughest Western Conference series you’ve had in this run to the finals four straight times or was that OKC a couple of years?”
Draymond Green: (Laughter from Warriors players) “We don’t speak of the OKC game, our guy right here (pointing to Durant), so that don’t even matter. But this was a tough series, man. That was a great team we just played against. They gave us everything they could give us and they almost pulled it out. So much respect to them and everything that they did. And we know we’ll see them again down the line.”

Green avoided controversy by not saying anything that would infuriate Durant, his teammate who led that OKC team to a 3-1 lead before eventually succumbing to the Warriors.
It was a valiant effort from the Rockets who had the best record in the NBA this season. Unfortunately, they were missing the services of Chris Paul who went down with a hamstring injury late in the fourth quarter of Game 5.
Needing two straight wins to avoid elimination, the Warriors annihilated the Rockets at Oracle Arena in Game 6 with a 115-86 win and survived a 17-point deficit in the first half to win Game 7. Green finished the game with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. Golden State was led by Durant’s 34 points and Stephen Curry who had 27.
The Warriors are now back on the NBA’s biggest stage, the Finals, to meet with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the fourth consecutive year.
