On the verge of his team’s fifth straight NBA Finals berth, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors took questions as part of his team’s media availability ahead of Thursday’s Game 1 against the Toronto Raptors.

During the availability, Green took a question regarding whether or not the level he’s currently playing at represents his “peak.” Not unsurprisingly, Dray believes his best is yet to come.

Chalk this one up to a rather inane question being answered in as fitting a way as one would expect. Kudos to Green for responding to the question in a thoughtful, honest way instead of opting for the recently ubiquitous “next question” response.

There are questions that Green has picked up his level of play in the Playoffs this year – especially when compared to the regular season. The Warriors didn’t particularly have their fastball against the Portland Trail Blazers, yet they still swept them out of the Western Conference Finals with relative ease. How? The answer is Draymond.

Green is certainly showing signs of “peaking” in this playoff run, but here’s the thing: Anyone who watched him all regular season could likely not have seen this level of play coming from The Dancing Bear (yes, that’s one of his Basketball Reference nicknames). Perhaps it helps when your team is so good that you can sandbag an entire regular season and only turn it on in the Playoffs when it really counts.
