The Golden State Warriors have already gotten off to a rocky start against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. As the game began, rookie Jordan Bell injured his leg in a block attempt on Robin Lopez, according to Anthony Slater of the Athletic.
“Wheelchair out for Jordan Bell. Couldn't put weight on his left foot/ankle.”
The play can be seen in the video below where Bell badly injured his leg after landing awkwardly on a defensive play.
Article Continues BelowAs Bell attempted to contest Lopez's finish, he landed hard on his leg, clearly writhing in pain afterward. Although his absence will be a blow to the Warriors, they can still compete at a high level without the dynamic rookie — they're that deep.
In any case, Ball has performed extremely well for the Warriors. He has transformed into a player that can emulate the play of Draymond Green. His willingness to play defense, added with a keen quality of athleticism makes Bell a talented specimen for the Warriors.
To add insult to injury, the Bulls are the team that actually traded Bell to the Warriors for cash considerations in the 2017 NBA Draft. Although Bell may not have any hard feelings toward the Bulls, he surely wanted to have a big performance for his team.
Steve Kerr usually starts Bell at center when the matchup dictates, but now that Bell is going to miss some time, Zaza Pachulia will likely become the starting center more frequently for the Warriors. Hopefully, there isn't any extensive damage to Bell's leg and that he can return soon for the Warriors.
