Kevin Durant stayed true to his word to remain with the Golden State Warriors, signing yet another one-and-one deal to secure his stay, but only for another full regular season.
Ever since signing with the team in 2016, Durant has signed three of these short-term, max-flex deals — and when pressed about it, was the most candid he has been since letting the ink dry on his two-year, $61.5 million contract.

I’m going to approach it like I always do. Get ready for camp, take it a day at a time.”
After signing two long-term deals with the Oklahoma City Thunder that kept him as the franchise's icon for nine straight years, Durant has stayed rather noncommittal to an organization that will likely have many problems keeping that same core together in the next few years, as Klay Thompson (2019) and Draymond Green (2020) await max deals of their own.
The rumor mill on his next destination has already started, with some suggesting a reunion with his old team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, or the New York Knicks, or even the new-era of the Los Angeles Lakers as possible options for the Slim Reaper.
Different from other sports, the NBA offers substantial power to their own stars — and Durant has made the most of it by keeping his options open.
If he caps his third season with the Golden State Warriors with yet another championship — there will be little to keep him from seeking his next destination, unless a four-peat is in his sights.
