The Golden State Warriors will be without star point guard Stephen Curry for at least two weeks due to an ankle injury.
Is it point guard Kevin Durant time? Not the way he sees it, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Durant downplayed the idea that he would get more touches or offensive opportunities solely because Curry is out of the lineup.
“I have no clue. I'm just gonna go out there and try to play, play harder on the defensive end and I'll figure offensive stuff out when I come down there. But I'm just trying to be in my spot every time on defense.”
Durant is obviously being a PR master right here. It may look bad for him to just come out and say, “Yes, I will run the offense and run isolation plays for myself and basically just be Superman on the basketball court.”

But if he did that, he would be going against the entire essence of how the Warriors play. Head coach Steve Kerr certainly doesn't want to see Durant dominate the offense, and neither do any of his teammates.
So focusing on defense is good for the team, as is operating within the flow of the offense. When Curry was sidelined with a knee injury in the 2015 playoffs, the Warriors didn't just start playing iso ball either.
But moments like this are why the organization brought in Durant in the first place. He's such a versatile player that if one of their main guys goes down, he can fill the role.
