Teams coming off a successful season usually have the tendency to take their foot off the gas pedal. It also causes players of those teams to suddenly have inflated egos, which in turn could lead to the erosion of their chemistry. That hasn’t been the case for the Golden State Warriors over the past few years. In fact, they have had star players take pay cuts in order for the team to keep its core.

What makes the Warriors more unique is their seemingly unquenched desire to win more. According to Golden State owner Joe Lacob, the Warriors are “still very hungry,” per Ethan Strauss of The Athletic.

All teams in the NBA have the thirst to win a championship, but what sets the Warriors apart from the rest is that they are actually the heavy favorites to win a Larry O’Brien Trophy next season.

The addition of DeMarcus Cousins to the team this offseason makes the already stacked Warriors’ roster a whole lot more imposing. Cousins is not expected to play right in the first game of the season and could be out until next year, as he tries to recuperate from an Achilles injury, but once he becomes available, any trace of weak spots left on the Warriors’ armor may not be detectable at all anymore.

A star-laden cast of players and the burning desire to rule the league once more are just the perfect ingredients for a likely three-peat for the Warriors.
