There’s no need to raise hell over the absence of Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry’s noticeable absence during the playing of the national anthem just before tipoff of their match with the Philadelphia 76ers last Saturday.

Curry has been increasingly vocal about his support of the military, which made it a bit ironic that he wasn’t around during the pregame ritual. Stephen Curry didn’t intentionally miss it, though. He was taking a call at that time—a call from nature to be exact, per Mark Medina of Mercury News.

Well, when you got to go, you got to go, right? The Warriors star may be one of the most gifted athletes in the world but not even his well-manicured muscle fibers could stop either his excretory or digestive system from imposing its will. Besides, isn’t it more disrespectful had Stephen Curry sung the national anthem while some icky substance was running down his legs?

We’ve seen athletes put the call of nature in front of their duties before. Tracy McGrady did this before in China. Perhaps more notable was that of former Boston Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez taking a leak just behind the Green Monster at Fenway Park.

I guess Curry being Curry is the new Manny being Manny.
