By and large, the Golden State Warriors are coasting in these playoffs. They have only lost two games so far in the postseason and remain as the top favorite to win in the NBA Finals this June. In 2015, however, the Warriors found their backs against the wall as early as the second round when the Memphis Grizzlies took a 2-1 lead in the series, which then made point guard Stephen Curry a little bit worried.

Fortunately, the anxiety didn’t eat Curry that much thanks to a great teammate in do-it-all forward Draymond Green, who showed that his versatility extends well beyond the basketball court when he helped calm down Curry by indulging themselves to servings of barbeque and bottles of beer, per Drew Shiller of NBC Sports.

“2015 championship run, in Memphis — we were down 2-1,” Curry explained. “And after the game, I was in my hotel room — and I wouldn't call it sulking, but I was thinking about what I need to do better for the next game — and he called and told me to come down to the BBQ spot down the street.

Playing in the playoffs is mentally taxing. The physical exhaustion can be treated with rest but dealing with stress and anxiety is not that simple, which is why it’s also important for teams to have someone who could stabilize his teammates off the court just like what Green did to Curry. No wonder the Warriors are this successful over the past few seasons.

The Warriors will begin their conference finals matchup with the Houston Rockets this Monday at home.
