Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry has already won two MVP awards in his career, and there is talk that he may win a third.

Curry is averaging 28.1 points, 6.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game, while shooting almost 50 percent from the field, 43 percent from three and 90.9 percent from the free throw line, per Basketball-Reference. Those numbers are very close to the ones he put up when he won back-to-back MVPs a few years ago.

When asked if he thought his numbers this year amounted to an MVP-caliber season, Curry said he doesn't think about it in those terms, but he's happy that he's playing at that level, per Mark Medina of the Mercury News.

“I hear talk about where this season is compared to years past and all that stuff,” Curry said. “It's nice to hear that you're playing at a level that — hopefully a little more efficiently — but at least playing at a level I was when I did win the first two. That's all it is, really.”

Curry, from a numbers standpoint, should absolutely get MVP consideration this year. But playing on the same team as Kevin Durant will undoubtedly take votes away from him.

Also, LeBron James is making a big case for MVP with the season he's having for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder also cannot be ignored in the discussion.

Curry has also missed games with an ankle injury, and games missed always puts a damper on an MVP candidacy. But if we're only going by numbers, Curry deserves the buzz.
