The Golden State Warriors' 2024-25 season has come to an end on Wednesday night after they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of their second-round matchup, 121-110. It was quite the dispiriting end to what was such a promising season for the Warriors, as they simply did not have enough on their roster to withstand the absence of Stephen Curry due to a hamstring injury.
Nevertheless, head coach Steve Kerr believes that there are plenty of reasons for the Warriors fanbase to be optimistic of their chances to bounce back next year, as difficult as that may be to accept right now.
“I'm excited [for next season]. Jimmy [Butler] and [Draymond Green] and Steph all coming back. Our young players performed really well this year. There's a lot to look forward to,” Kerr said in his postgame presser, via NBC Sports Bay Area.
The way the Warriors performed at full strength in the aftermath of their trade for Butler gives Kerr plenty of hope as well that they can run it back next year and compete for a championship, provided, of course, that their key guys all remain healthy.
“I love our guys. This was a hell of a run for us considering where we were at the trade deadline. Jimmy changed our season. Flipped everything for us, gave us a chance. We became one of the best things in the league. Obviously, you get to the final eight in the NBA, you're one of the best teams. We had a shot but things didn't go our way,” Kerr added.

As long as Stephen Curry is a star, the Warriors have a chance

The Warriors' inability to take at least one game from the Timberwolves amid Stephen Curry's injury absence shows how important the 37-year-old star is to the team. And as long as he's productive and at least near the peak of his powers, the Dubs have a chance to make some noise come postseason time.
Jimmy Butler provided excellent complementary play to the Warriors, an excellent passer out of the post, a man who relishes doing the dirty work, and someone who can take over when need be. Draymond Green is still a master on the defensive end. And they have a solid cast of role players who could very well get better next year.
The sting of defeat will never be easy to deal with, especially for serial winners such as Curry and Green. But for Green, he believes that they will be back to being at their best next year.
“I think we'll be right back at it. Sucks to end this way, but we think we got the pieces to make another run at it and do it again,” Green said in his postgame presser via @ohnohedidnt24 on X.
