Over the last few years, Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry has become one of the league's most popular players.

An intriguing part of this has been his ability to connect with the casual NBA fan. During an interview with Connor Letourneau of SFGate.com, a Chinese fan voiced  precisely why they follow the 29-year-old.

“Stephen Curry, he’s mortal,” Wang said. “He’s not like LeBron James. He’s smaller than a lot of people, which motivates many people here.”

The fact that Curry is much smaller in stature than the likes of many other star players in the league like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Anthony Davis likely makes it easier for the common fan to gravitate to him. This makes him more relatable to regular NBA fans for that simple reason.

It also helps that he has been highly successful over the last four years earning a pair of NBA titles, two NBA MVP awards, four All-Star Game selections, two All-NBA First Team nods, and two All-NBA Second Team selections. He has earned numerous endorsement opportunities with various companies such as JPMorgan Chase, Brita, Vivo, Infiniti, and PressPlay.

All of this has elevated him to even higher status among fans and peers alike and should continue to rise over the next stretch of his career.
