After a serious hip injury last season, Isaiah Thomas missed the final games of the Eastern Conference series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. That particular year was very eventful for the 5'9 point guard. Thomas averaged 28.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists while shooting 46 percent from the field and 37 percent from the three-point line. Though after Thomas injured his hip, the Celtics unexpectedly traded him to the Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving in the off-season. Thomas only played 15 games for the Cavaliers before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

With a new start, Thomas is expected to thrive in his new role with the Lakers. Though, he did have some interesting comments about being traded from the Cavaliers, per Mike Trudell of Lakers.com.

Isaiah Thomas on the trade: “I was shocked, (but) I’m happy to be with a young team that gets up and down. That’s my style. It’s a fresh start for me. It kind of reminds me when I got to Boston.”

Indeed, the Lakers are a young and fast team, but it remains to be seen if Thomas still possesses the lightning-quick speed that allowed him to dominate last season. There are some defining questions that the Lakers still have to answer. To begin, will Thomas start for the Lakers when Lonzo Ball returns? Second, do they intend on keeping Thomas past this season? Lastly, how will Thomas fit ideally for the Lakers?

These are certainly some questions that the Lakers' management will have to answer by the end of the season. In any case, Thomas seems to be excited about his new start with the Lakers, so that alone should suffice for now.
