In a shocking chain of events, Isaiah Thomas wound up on his third team in the last eight months, packing his bags to join the Los Angeles Lakers after being traded alongside Channing Frye and a first-round pick for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. before the trade deadline.

Despite the constant move, his agent, Aaron Goodwin, insisted his client is “ecstatic” to join the team he once grew up rooting for, even despite the circumstances.

Thomas now enters a situation where he will likely see some minutes-splitting with Lonzo Ball upon his return, but according to Goodwin, that isn't part of his mindset.

“Once he spoke to (Lakers president of basketball operations) Magic (Johnson) and (general manager) Rob (Pelinka), he was ecstatic about the opportunity,” Goodwin told Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports. “It’s clear that he’ll get a chance to play, and play up-tempo like he has played throughout his career. And that’s all we can ask for. That was our biggest concern.”

The Lakers had carved a path for Ball to be the star of the franchise, a plan that most would think is still in play. Though the question about Thomas being a point guard to remain for the long run and not just a rental, brings plenty of questions.

“I have no idea what the role will be for either of them,” added the agent. “That’s really going to be up to (coach) Luke (Walton) and the Lakers. My concern is only that Isaiah gets into L.A., and is afforded the opportunity to continue to play on the level he’s been playing. Other than that, it’s not in my control.
