Russell Westbrook and Dwight Howard are two of the biggest names the Los Angeles Lakers recently added to their roster for the upcoming season. Westbrook arrived in LA a few days ahead of Howard, which is why Russ was able to welcome the eight-time All-Star big man with an epic message.

According to Howard, Westbrook had just two words for him upon his arrival, which is truly on-brand Russell Westbrook (h/t Hoopsview on Twitter):

Howard was playing around on Instagram Live and he happened to stumble upon the topic of his new Lakers teammate, Russell Westbrook. “Why not?” was the only two words Russ had for Dwight — a personal motto that Westbrook has embraced throughout his career.

It looks like Howard was just joking around, but it's pretty hilarious to imagine this intense first meeting between these two new teammates. I picture Howard walking down the hall with Westbrook coming from the opposite direction. Their eyes lock intensely and even before Howard could say anything, Russ comes out with his two-word message along with his trademark mean mug. Epic.

All jokes aside, though, Westbrook and Howard should do well together in LA. They're no spring chickens (which is also true for pretty much the rest of the squad), but they can still ball out. We should be treated to more than a few Westbrook-to-Howard alley-oops throughout the campaign which are sure to produce the oohs and the ahhs from adoring Lakers fans. Oh, and they're also going to play alongside a dude named LeBron James. You've probably heard about that guy, too.
