The Los Angeles Lakers are set to move on from Frank Vogel after missing out on the NBA playoffs this season. In order to right the ship and live up to their lofty expectations for next season, the Lakers are hoping to land a proven head coach to take charge of the team. According to Shams Charania, one name that has come up as a potential head coach target in LA is Toronto Raptors' coach Nick Nurse. The Lakers are reportedly interested in bringing Nurse to Hollywood, using the allure of coaching LeBron James and Anthony Davis to poach him from the Raptors.

 

Charania reports that, due to Nurse being under contract for another two seasons, the Lakers would likely need to facilitate a trade in order to bring him to LA. In any trade for Nurse, the Lakers would first need to be granted permission from the Raptors to open talks for the coach.

There are various other candidates expected to be linked to LA's vacancy, but Nurse appears to be one of the early favorites. He's had a great run in Toronto, winning an NBA championship and enduring just one losing season, posting a career 60.4% winning percentage. Despite his success up North, the 54-year-old could be tempted by the bright lights of Hollywood and the chance to coach one of the all-time greats in LeBron.
It's worth noting that Nurse is represented by Klutch Sports' Andy Miller, who was hired by the Raptors coach in 2020. Klutch also represents James and Davis, adding more fuel to the fire surrounding the Lakers' interest in Nurse.
