The Los Angeles Lakers took a 133-115 loss against in-city rivals Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night, but it wasn't for a lack of trying from LeBron James. James scored 46 points against the Clippers, allowing him to complete the 40-point gauntlet against every NBA franchise. After another strong game, he inches ever more closely to Kareem-Abdul Jabbar's all-time scoring record. In fact, he only needs to score 224 more points to overtake Abdul-Jabbar.

Naturally, reporters asked James about his thoughts about surpassing Abdul-Jabbar, and what he thinks about Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue's statement from way before saying that James had always thought about overtaking Abdul-Jabbar someday even back when they were still with the Cavs.

And LeBron James' response shows that the relationship between the two remains ever so strong, as he joked that Lue isn't always the most forthright person.

“Don't let T-Lue gas you up like that. He loves lying,” James said, eliciting laughter from reporters, per Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints. “I never thought I'd catch Kareem in scoring. It's never been something that was on my mind. [Lue's] not a liar, but he's lying there for sure.”

If there's anyone who knows all about lying, it's LeBron James. Remember when Twitter users caught James in a web of lies?

Nonetheless, James wasn't done joking about his former head coach. He then proceeded to say that Tyronn Lue is guilty of taking some cash the Cavs left in Oracle Arena back in the 2016 NBA Finals.

“I also think that he went to the roof in Oracle Arena and our locker room and took that money that we were trying to go back and get when we went back for Game 7. ‘Cause it wasn't there when we went back. I think he took that money and told us somebody else went up there and grabbed it,” James added with a wry smile on his face.

It's great to see James remain in high spirits even as the Lakers hit another roadblock in their quest to move up the standings. The Lakers fell to 22-26 on the season following this loss, as they remain 13th in the Western Conference standings.

It's not quite clear what else The King could do. Try as hard as he might, the Lakers have still fallen short more often than not. Hopefully Anthony Davis' return would help James' ecstatic mood off the court carry over into the winning column for the purple and gold.
